FIVE IMAGES of MELK

Five images of Melk is a work inspired by the Monastery of the city of Melk, its history and importance to Austria and the Christian world. The images of Jesus crucified, seen through a window, the organ of the cathedral, San Colomano, the Virgin Mary and St. Michael the Archangel, were images that originated the five pieces that integrate the work, written for the Venezuelan 7/4 Ensembre, composed by José Arvelo, Gabriel Gutiérrez, Tarcisio Barreto D'Addona, Jesus Vasquez (Trumpets), Moises Rojas (Cuatro), Francisco Montes (Doublebass), Miguel Pagua (Percussion) and Ines Schüttengruber (Organ) and dedicated to Father Martin Rotheneder and Karl Schagerl, who hosted our visit to the Monastery, let us know and admire this religious and cultural heritage of humanity. The world premiere was on November 1st, 2015 at the Cathedral of the Monastery of Melk.

TARCISIO BARRETO CEBALLOS

Tarcisio Barreto Ceballos (1965) trained as a Conductor, Violinist and Composer in the Venezuelan National Youth Orchestra System (Sistema Nacional de Orquestas Juveniles de Venezuela) he attended, at a very young age, a great number of master courses, not only in violin but also in conducting, in countries such as Venezuela, Spain, Italy, Swiss, Germany, France, Norway and the Unites States of America. His career has been very eclectic, including performances as a Violin Soloist in Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Spain, Italy, Germany, Norway, United States of America, Uruguay and Ecuador. Since 1993 to 2015 he was the Musical Conductor and Artistic Director of the Lara Symphony Orchestra (Barquisimeto- Venezuela). In 1994 he was appointed Musical Director of the Occidente Opera Company, staging the following operas: Cavalleria Rusticana, I Pagliacci, Negro Miguel, Traviata, Madame Butterfly, Gianni Schicchi, Suor Angelica, Il Tabarro, La Boheme, and Los Martirios de Colon. In 1997 he was named Cultural Executive of the Year in recognition of his work for the cultural Development of the Region. He is also Active Director of the support program for Youth Orchestras of America funded by 0.A.S., UNESCO and CAF. From 1996 to 2015 he was Executive Director of Vicente Emilio Sojo Conservatory in Barquisimeto, where he has an intense teaching activity. Frecuent guest Conductor in "Simón Bolívar" Symphony Orchestra (Venezuela) and Marseille Philharmonic Orchestra (France).
